Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
